About

Amrik Majumdar

I’m a student at Westfield High School in Fairfax County, Virginia. My research covers robot swarms (groups of robots working together), lung CT scans (three-dimensional X-ray images) and droplet measurement. I also build software, including SAFEY and JARVIS XR, and I teach guitar, tutor elementary students and run coding workshops.

Timeline

From age five
I began playing guitar in India and later trained in the United States.
2023
I began three things that year. At George Mason University, I began studying how robots coordinate as a group without a central controller. I also started Helping Hands, a tutoring club at Westfield, and MusiCraft, which teaches guitar for free. I kept performing alongside them, at the North American Bengali Conference and the NVBA Durgotsab.
2024
I co-founded the Competitive Coding Club at Westfield and became its vice president.
2025
I began a second research subject: lung-cancer imaging with a collaborator. We studied whether scans taken over time say more about the cancer’s stage, or how far it has spread, than one scan does. That summer I attended the Summer Residential Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology, a Virginia state program where students live on a college campus. With a partner, I built SAFEY for the 2025 Congressional App Challenge.
2026
In January, SAFEY was named the winner for Virginia’s 11th district. The lung-cancer conference abstract appeared in the ASCO proceedings in May. That summer I worked on droplet analysis at the NIST Center for Neutron Research. The sensory-board project was completed on July 19, and the boards went to the facility. In August, Coates Elementary announced a tutoring partnership with Helping Hands.
